Influence of materials on lighting unit's effiency
One of the most important items of directed illuminant is a reflecting body which essentially influences on a final effiency. By this illuminant the received light output from the tube is between 25-35%. The rest of 65-75% is therefore received from reflected body respectively reflector. If the reflector is made of unsuitable material or it has irregular shape there will be substantial losses shown as excessive heat.
The lower test demonstrates the influence of reflective material at HQI lighting unit.
The lighting unit HQI 2x150W was tested under
identical conditions. The only difference was in a reflecting body. At
first in HQI 2x150W was original reflector made of anodised aluminium
sheet Picture 1, Graph 1). Then in HQI 2x150W a highly reflective metal
sheet with 95% reflection was placed (Picture 2, Graph2). Efficiency
was inreased for 30%.
